PDR secures 3 iF Design Awards for 2022!

Another year, another win for PDR - 3 to be precise. We are thrilled to announce that we have won 3 iF Design Awards for 2022 - two of them going to innovative products and one to a super-secret project!

Our first design award goes to Nyfasi, a deluxe detangling comb developed specifically for the Black and Afro hair community. Few products are designed for their particular requirements, which has sometimes resulted in them being largely ignored by big beauty brands. Nyfasi aims to make afro hair care easier and quicker, by combining two important steps in one: conditioning and detangling. Its patented mechanism coats a user's hair with conditioner whilst detangling easily without discomfort. The product has been extensively designed and tested by the users themselves to celebrate and support natural, healthy Black and Afro hair.

Our other design award winner is Cercle, conceived and developed with a full sustainability profile in mind. It was designed to tackle the complex, multi-material construction of steering wheels which results in defying recycling hence becoming a key part of the 25% of each vehicle that goes to landfill every year.

Cercle is the first automotive steering wheel to adopt a full circular economy approach to design allowing easy, complete disassembly and recycling at end of life whilst incorporating complex controls and haptic feedback into a high-quality traditional form.

Jarred Evans, Director at PDR was part of the jury at this year’s iF Design Awards. In a statement, he says:

“My involvement in the iF Design Awards jury process this year has, if anything, reinforced my belief in the independence, fairness and above all, quality of the iF Design Awards. There were over 10,000 entries this year from around the world showcasing the very best of design in 2022. The jury team assembled represented much of the world's best design talent and experience and we’re in no mood to let the exceptionally high standards of the iF Design Award slip.

It’s amazing and strangely humbling then to pick up 3 awards on the back of similar prior successes including back to back Gold Awards in the last two years.

It’s a small but high-quality team here at PDR and we remain ranked by iF as the best in the UK and in the top 25 design agencies and medical device design centres globally.”

Despite not being able to give away the details of one of our projects yet we can certainly share its win at this year's iF Design Awards. All we can say for now is that we’ve been working on a project for a medical device company in Germany, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Congratulations to the whole team for their hard work and unwavering commitment to purposeful design!
